The world’s priciest drink, with a bill of £35,000 attached to each glass, has just been launched in London.
The cocktail, named the Flawless, was unveiled at Movida nightclub a hangout of celebrities, footballers and the super-rich.
Movida has already taken a small number of orders for the drink. Only the finest ingredients are included in the drink. It consists of a large measure of Louis XII cognac, half a bottle of Cristal Rose champagne, some brown sugar, angostura bitters and a few flakes of 24-carat edible gold leaf. But the reason for the price can be found at the bottom of the crystal glass, in the shape of an 11-carat white diamond ring.
At £35,000 a glass you’re sure to attract some attention; so Movida mix this “perfect” cocktail right in front of you with two security guards.
A Budget hotel Travellodge has declared war on a Sosho because the noise coming from the club is keeping guests up at night.
Trendy Clerkenwell club Sosho, voted the fifth-best space in 21st-century London, will have its licence reviewed at Islington Town Hall on Monday after the newly opened Travelodge hotel opposite complained the noise was too much.
Travelodge said it wanted the club’s licence reviewed because: “There have been problems operating the hotel as a result of disturbance to guests from patrons of Sosho. The hotel is now unable to let rooms facing Tabernacle Street.”
The fight goes on!

DJs worldwide are invited to shape DJmag’s Top 100 Clubs Poll this year by simply voting for their top three clubs on the planet. While our long-running Top 100 DJs Poll offers clubbers the opportunity to vote for their favourite DJs, this is a chance for DJs to speak out and shape a definitive list of the best dance clubs the world has to offer.
Following the success of the past two years Top 50 Clubs, we’re raising the stakes and upping the ante to compile a full list of the Top 100, giving you more scope to big up your favourite world-beating venue.
London club Fabric was crowned Best Club In The World in 2006, before the colossal Space in Ibiza lifted the title last year. With more corners of the world opening up to dance music will DJs continue to vote for established venues or will some new clubs from off-the-beaten tracks make an appearance in this year’s poll?
Voting opens is now open so head over to www.djmag.com and vote for your top three clubs in the world.
One of London’s best-known and longest running nightclubs is about to close to make room for real estate development.
A spokesman for Turnmills tells Evening Standard:
As far as we are concerned our lease is still intact until any legal documents have been signed, which they haven’t at this stage and the permission to develop does not mean they need vacant possession for the first phase of the building works. The long-term plan for the building and development far exceeds our existing lease. We are in negotiation with the landlords to buy us out of the remaining lease if they want to bring the development of the basement forward - which they may or may not want to do. It’s very early days.
IceBrkr, a London based dating agenty, offers a chance to get the guy or girl you want with out the pain!
The Web site, designed to be accessed from desktops and mobile phones, keeps a guest list of IceBrkr members frequenting a select London hot spot, like pub, club, coffee shop, or bar on a given evening. Subscribing singles can spy who’s coming, then send text messages to other guys and gals whose online pictures catch their fancy, and await a request to approach or to politely scram.
IceBrkr’s free SMS method may help singles avoid the awkward, icy exchanges of barroom chat-ups for both parties involved. While currently restricted to the London scene, IceBrkr’s model, should it prove successful, could expand to other major UK and world cities.
