Fireworks on New Years Eve 2009
Saturday, August 23rd, 2008
London’s New Year’s Eve fireworks are now firmly established as amongst the best in the world, with the London eye providing a stunning backdrop to New Years Eve celebrations and winning global media coverage which helps promote London.
The annual display using the London Eye and launched from rafts on the Thames, is visible from any part of the river. The best view are from the bridges but the juliblee bridge is closed after 8pm. There will also be no entry onto Westminster Bridge after 8pm. Best views can be obtained from Victoria Embankment just outside the station. Embankment station will be closed on new years new. Tubes will be free on new years day.

Josh Hartnett was left red-faced after twice being refused entry to a London venue after the door staff didn’t recognise him.
